Stimulant Medication Management of Students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: What Educators Need to KnowDepartment of Pediatrics, The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
Department of Pediatrics, The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences As educators begin to address the roles of identification, evaluation, and management of students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD), teachers remain relatively uninformed about their role in medical management. This article addresses the critical issues in the medication management of students with AD/HD in the classroom. The issues of considering, trying, and optimizing stimulant medication effects are discussed. Medication side effects and their manctgement, along with long-term management issues, are highlighted.
